A one-man Hasya Darbar of satire, parody and folk song — carried from village dayras in Kutch and Saurashtra to Gujarati stages around the world.
His latest large-format work is a multimedia tribute to India's freedom fighters, grown out of the dayro tradition.
Sairam Dave wrote the script and narrates this show about Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, Rajguru and lesser-known revolutionaries, told through folk storytelling, poetry, music, drama and visual effects. It runs free for audiences, with a large cast of volunteer artists; the third edition, Viranjali 2.0, arrived in 2025.

Born Prashant Vishnuprasad Dave, he began going on stage as a small child alongside his father, the folk artist Vishnuprasad Dave. Storytelling, song and the harmonium came to him at home, and he made his debut as a child artist in 1988.
He earned a diploma in electrical engineering, then chose the classroom: he worked as a teacher and later as principal of Shala No. 5 in Gondal. Education never left his work — he went on to found the Nachiketa Schooling System and the Sai Lakshmi Foundation, which runs storytelling and Gujarati-language initiatives for children and teachers.
His early recordings were made for Akashvani (All India Radio) stations across Gujarat. From there he moved to live stages and brought laughter into the traditional dayro, building themed programmes on daughters, parenting, relationships, patriotism and devotion — and a one-man show he calls Hasya Darbar.
His writing runs from humour collections such as Sairam no Hasya Darbar and Hasya no Highway to poetry like Rang Kasumbal Gujarati, children's verse and devotional work. He has also written humour columns for Mumbai Samachar and Divya Bhaskar.
With more than 4,000 performances behind him, across India and countries including the USA, UK, Australia, New Zealand, the UAE, Kenya and Oman, he now builds large multimedia productions — Viranjali (2022, 2024, 2025) and Khamma Gujarat among them.
